Welcome To Nutrition Services!

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

P-EBT Application Deadline Extended to July 31

The deadline to apply for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) has been extended to July 31st. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), and Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) request that schools continue their communication efforts to eligible families. P-EBT provides a one-time benefit of up to $285 per eligible child that families can use to purchase food. Eligible families that have children 5-18 years old and received SNAP benefits for March have already received P-EBT benefits. All other eligible families must apply to receive P-EBT benefits.

Thousands of Texas families have already applied for P-EBT during the month of June. However, there are still many more students that are eligible for this program. Extending the deadline to July 31st will help ensure families have time to apply for these benefits. Please continue to promote P-EBT to eligible families and encourage them to submit an application using the resources linked to this email.

P-EBT food benefits are for children who received SNAP food benefits for March 2020 and children who are certified for free or reduced-price school meals during the 2019-20 Texas school year. For more information click on the image.

Brownsville ISD is an Open Enrolled Site:

  • We can feed any child 0-18 years of age
  • Children DO NOT need to be enrolled in the district
  • Our VISUAL VERIFICATION method is that the child MUST BE IN THE VEHICLE
  • All meals given to children in attendance are free of cost

Thank you in advance for your support!

Please note that all menus are subject to change based on availability of foods. Just as food quantities are scarce in our grocery stores, some products we order are not delivered. We ask for your patience as we try to provide your child with a balanced breakfast and lunch. Thank you for participating with BISD FNS program.

BISD FNS will accommodate special diets during the Covid-19 feeding for any child that has a valid Doctor’s order. Parents requesting a special diet during Drive-Thru service will need to contact FNS Administration to make special accommodations. Parent will need to provide name of the child and school attending for FNS to locate the student’s diet. FNS asks for a minimum of 2 weeks to start accommodating special requests. Parents are asked to confirm attendance to a COVID- 19 site for food or items to be prepared.
